Patient Business Services Representative

Under direct supervision, is responsible for the front-end business functions that support excellent patient care follow up and complete revenue cycle. Provides exemplary customer-centered service. This is a crucial position in assuring full and complete follow up patient care and smooth/timely billing and collections as well as the beginning of exceptional service.
Position is responsible for patient centered business screening, and accurate and complete capture of demographic, financial and visit information as evidenced by regular and ongoing quality audits. Preps patient for financial obligations, including deductibles and co-pays payable at the point of service according to insurance and payment requirements, and policies. Maintains thorough knowledge and proficiency of all processes and systems used in patient access and revenue cycle. Assures the integrity of data (including IDX/GE Centricity, RevRunner Electronic Verification, electronic posting systems, etc). Performs front-desk patient screening, arriving, scheduling and co-pay collection functions according to departmental policy and procedures. Achieves an 80% or better in standards of core functions according to departmental policy.
Adheres to behaviors and conduct that is conducive to excellent patient service. Ensures that all patients and family feel welcomed in words, tone and body language.
Successfully completes organizational and departmental orientation processes as evidenced by monitoring, feedback and system audits. Demonstrates competency and proficiency in customer service and revenue cycle as evidenced in performance, quality and knowledge as outlined in departmental standards. CHAA certification within first year necessary before appointment as a FTE Associate within the department.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required
Associates degree in a related field preferred
Experience:
2 years experience working with the public in a professional medical/business services setting (preference may be given to banking, accounting, and health/human services field)
Associates degree in related field may be substituted for 1 year of required work experience.
License/Certification:
Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification must be obtained within 12 months from date of hire

Physical Requirements:

Work requires prolonged periods of concentration working on a computer, and the ability to stay focused for extended periods of time.
